Bluetooth Capability and Browser Compatibility
Understanding Bluetooth Support in Web Browsers
Bluetooth technology enables seamless wireless communication between devices, but not all web browsers support direct Bluetooth connectivity. This is due to varying implementations of the Web Bluetooth API, which allows websites to interact with Bluetooth-enabled devices securely.
Which Browsers Support Bluetooth?
To ensure a smooth experience, use one of the following browsers that support Bluetooth connectivity:
- Google Chrome (Desktop & Android)
- Microsoft Edge (Desktop & Android)
- Opera (Desktop & Android)
These browsers provide built-in support for the Web Bluetooth API, allowing web applications to communicate with Bluetooth-enabled devices such as smart home gadgets, medical devices, and IoT equipment.
Browsers That Do Not Support Bluetooth
Some browsers do not support Bluetooth due to security concerns or lack of Web Bluetooth API integration. These include:
- Safari (macOS & iOS)
- Brave (All platforms)
Apple has not fully implemented Web Bluetooth support in Safari, particularly on iOS, due to strict security policies. Similarly, Brave blocks certain web functionalities for privacy reasons, preventing Bluetooth connections.
